3DS Max Model For My 3D Game

When I was thinking about my game assets I decided to make a mood bored to help me think of game ideas about my enemies and characters.

Space boi
Ones I did that. My game idea ended up being to have a spaceman/alien To come down to earth and kill and destroy as much as he can. To prove to his home planet and race that he is the ultimate killer/destroyer. My plan was for the spaceman/alien to start off small killing things like animals then get bigger like attack helicopters and tanks. (Gets harder as you go). When I decided on this I went on to drawing my first enemy which would be a Bull charging towards you and you need to kill them before they hit you.

As it was my first time drawing with a drawing pad. I through It would be good to start with something simple So that is why i stared with my enemy “Cow” I Started with the side view then the face view and then to top view

When I started to draw my main character I used my mood bored to help me think of how he would look. started with the side view as that would most likely be the hardest to draw for me.when I finished that I went on to the front view what was a more straightforward and then finished with the top view.SPace

Then I hopped in to 3DS MAX to start making my unity assets my spaceman/alien I started with a cube then built my way out by extruding it once I finished that I decided to keep to simple colour. To do this I used a multi/sub object I set 4 and choose some colours I liked and then assigned them to my spaceman/alien.SPACE BOI V3

SPACE BOI V1SPACE BOI V2

After finishing  that I went on to making my cow enemy doing the same as before started with a cube then built my way out by extruding But this time I tried it with some textures instead of basic colours.Cow 3Cow v1Cow v2

I then went on to importing them into unity and replace the assets with my own. I did this by going to export then did Export Selected. As I only wanted my enemy and character to be exported. And when saving it I made sure to tick Embed Media to make sure that the colour and textures would get in to unity. Then import it to unity and swapping my scripts around to work with my new assets (I did this on both separate 3D Max files One for enemy and one for character)

DneNow I have finished both of my assets I feel a lot more confident in texturing 3D Objects and importing them to unity.

Unity 3D Space Shooter

How I made my 3D Space Shooter in Unity. Ones you open a new 3D Unity Project.
Part 1 The Model.
Now I will show and tell you how to make you spaceship model /player.Unity Space Shooter1.First you need to drag and drop the light blue 3D model into the scene.
2.You will Drag vehicle_playerShip_orange_dff
On to the light blue 3D model in the scene.
3.Click on the 3D model then On the right hand side click The arrow down on that is under vehicle_playerShip_orange_dff then it should give a option called Normal Map you should Drag vehicle_playerShip_orange_nrm onto it.
4. Next you will want to added a Capsule Collider  to the 3D Model And change The Radius to 0.43 and the Height to 1.76. and you collider should look like mine.
5.Then you will want add Rigibody to give it physics  and you will want to disable Use Gravity.

Now we will make the effects for the jet.
For the jet effects the first thing you want to do is locate part_jet_core_dff which is found in the Assets – Resources – Effects Ones you’re in the Effects folder bring part_jet_core_dff on to the scene.Space shooter v2
The you will want to change part_jet_core_dff into a sprite with the setting shown in the top right of the screen shot above. When you have done and applied it you drag and drop this on to your player model shown in the top left of the screen shot above then you will want to position it accordingly as I did.
Space shooter v3
Next you will want to make a Script folder to keep every thing organised and then you will make a script called Flash we are making this for the jet to work.
Space shooter v5.PNGSpace shooter v4.PNG
Now you want to copy the script to get the jet to get it to work like a jet the you will need drag the script on to part_jet_core_dff the you’re finished with the jet.

Part 2 The Movement.
Now I will show and tell you how to make you spaceship model /player move.Space shooter v6
1.
Firstly you need to make script name it what you want so it is easy to locate then you will make some variables (public float speed = 5;  private Rigidbody rig; )
This is so we access the rig Body and also assign a speed value for the Player.
2.Next we need to make (rig = GetComponent<Rigidbody> ();)
This will allow us to attach are rig body to the object.
3. Then We use this floats value
(float moveH = Input.GetAxis (“Horizontal”);
float moveV = Input.GetAxis (“Vertical”);)
This lets us calculate the Horizontal And Vertical Position. Then this are applied to a Vector 3 (Vector3 movement = new Vector3 (moveH, 0, moveV);)
This is where your player is.
4.Next you need  (rig.AddForce (movement * speed);) which is applied to object/player to give it speed

Space shooter v7

Next you will need to add a a new public float Named what you want i named mine “tilt” don’t forget to end it with a ; Then you will need to Add rig.rotation = Quaternion.Euler (0.0f, 0.0f, rig.velocity.x * -tilt);
This will be need to control the tilt we first get the rigs rotation transform. Next you set it to be = to a Euler angle within the z axis then using the x value times by our tilt float.

Part 3 The Shooting
Now I will show and tell you how to make you spaceship model/player Shoot.1
1. Make a quad and then rotate it 90 degrees within the X axis.
2
2.Next make a new material in our effects folder called fx_laser_orange3
3.Now you will want to drag fx_lazer_orange_dff on to Albedo on fx_laser_orange5
4.Then you will want to make the Shader in to a Particles/Additive

The Creation Of My Weapon Idea And Research

What is Primary research?
Primary research is (field research) it mean you going out and gathering new data that has not to be collected before for example interviews with  groups of people in focus groups and you can use surveys using questionnaires

What is Secondary research?
Secondary research is (desk research) it means you gathering existing data that has already been produced for example using google or books.Weapon ideas

I made this mind map to help me think of what weapon I want to make. and then when I fireguard out what I wanted I then when on to get some images.Weapon ideas v2.PNG

These are my Primary research pictures what I got from the royal armories I got these to help me think of what weapon I wanted and I decided to go for a medieval melee weapon.

This is my first mood board to help me think of ideas for what type of medieval melee weapon wanted. I  was leaning towards more of a spear weapon.

IMG v2-I went on to do some quick drawing of some random weapon ideas and then after drawing some I full decided on a  spear weapon.

So I made a second mood board just of spear for more inspiration. Ones I got a wide range of pictures.
IMG_001
So when I  finished the mood board I went on to making my spears handle end.IMG_003
When I found one that I liked I then went on to make it better.

IMG_002
I looked back at my random weapon ideas then I redrew the best one that I liked the most.
IMG_005
Then I trashed it on to some trashing paper so it made it a lot easy to combine them together.scanned-HAR17003416 - Charlie Harrison-20171211105749-2
When I combine them together I when and printed some off so I could try some different ideas.  scanned-HAR17003416 - Charlie Harrison-20171211105749-3
scanned-HAR17003416 - Charlie Harrison-20171211105749-5
I did tow deigns then chose the one I most liked and printed some more off the one I chose.

scanned-HAR17003416 - Charlie Harrison-20171211105749-1
Went on to do the colors when I finished I looked at them and chose the one I liked to the most and then went to 3D MAX with it.
IMG_004Just before going to 3D MAX I drew a to scale drawing.
weapon v1The first thing I did when I went in to 3ds Max I made a plane then I went in to material editor and added a Standard under scanline   and then I dragged my best picture  in to the material editor and connected it to  the Standard “Diffuse color” Then I selected the plane and assign material to selection then show shaded material in viewport. Then shaped the plane so my weapon looked to scale.Fin 3DWeapon When I finished it I through for my first weapon it when pretty well I’m glad that I chose the purple baled color as I think it gives it more of a unique look.
One thing I did not like was that the tip of the weapon ended up looking too big it could of doing a little smaller as it looks like the hand could barely sport it if it was a weapon in real life.  After finishing it I feel like I have more of a grasp on modeling 3d items and texturing them.

Alien Blob Attack

City

the first thing i did was add a physical camera and moved it around i found a spot liked. Then I moved on  to making a free light I first got it in to a nice location then in the modifier list for the free light i went to intensity and change the cd to 20000.0 and gave it

UFO Game Project

The first thing I did when starting to make a 2D game I opened up Unity and clicked on New to make a new project Named it UFO Game and clicked 2D then found appropriate file location to save it to. I then made 4 folders4

To make a folder you right click in the area show above then go to create the left click folder and then name it what you want.Spries For work

Next I went on to getting the sprites I need to do my work by importing them.

Ones I imported them I selected the one called background went in to inspector so I could see the backgrounds Import settings so I could change the Texture Type to “sprite (2D and UI)” Also change the Sprite Mode to multiple. After doing this I now can use sprite Editor to make my floor and walls I do this by left clicking and dragging a box around the parts I want to make in to a Prefabs I make 4 walls and a floor. Then moved them in to my prefabs folder. To keep every nice and organised
