Research

I now know from last year’s projects it is always the best idea to start with researching things that would be key in the projected I’m doing, with this knowledge I started to research on environment artist to help learn what an environment artist job is in the game development process also to help get an understanding of what is to come in the project. The way I researched this was by typing a basic summary of what an Environment Artist is and does in the game development process. After that, I continued to go into more detail of what an Environment Artist is and what an Environment Artist does. This helped me to find out it makes quite a bit of a difference depending on what size of the company you work in, I then go on to doing a step by step description of what Environment Artist does. I also analyzed some blackouts talking about what they mean and what the player could do in them. I investigated available jobs for an Environment Artist so that I could find out what I need to do to become an Environment Artist and the skills needed.

Next week I continued to research thing as we got filled in on some more detail about what we would be doing, So I started to research my themes that are Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Post-Apocalyptic, These are what we got told that we had to base a game on one of these themes. I did this by getting two Pictures for each theme and then describing them and what ideas and inspiration I got from them. I also asked my friends opinions on my game ideas to help me flesh out my ideas and thoughts more.

The week after that I researched the difference between these level types, Alley, Maze, Hub, Island, Path. I also made a survey to help choose what theme and level type to go with also art style, after that the other weeks we had I did not do much  research as I did it all at the start as it is the best to do it at the start of projects, But I still did some not much just a few mood boards and mind maps.

Design
I begging the design stage on the 3rd week, The first thing I designed was my map level in rough after researching the difference between these level types, Alley, Maze, Hub, Island, Path. The week after that I made the rough level design more detail and then made a finalized version.

Game Assets
The first asset I made was a barrier as I got told that is what we would be learning to unwrap, after that, I just went down my list of assets.

Making the Level
I started to Make my block out on my 5th week, I started with making a really basic version of my block out.
