What have you done so far? Skills learnt, etc.
The skills I have gained so far for this course is how to do basic unity/coding I know how to import models and assets into unity also I know how to make my characters take damage, move and get enemies to follow the characters. Photoshop/Art In photoshop I can make pixel art, I can also edit pictures to make them look better and I think my draw skill have improved. I know how to use 3DMAX to create 3d model’s environment and weapons also really basics game characters also how to texture them in 3DMAX.
I have decided to go for more a game design approach to the project as this is what I think I will do best in. As I see game design as my strongest strength, therefore I choose to do it for my project.
What are you creating? – detail
When I found that the game must be within 900 B.C – 900 A.D I decided to make my game about the Romans. So, I started researching Roman games for some inspiration and to make sure that I was not recrate any games that already exist. I have decided to make a turn-based strategy / Roleplay game. The game will be based around the Roman, but it will be in a made-up fantasy world. Basic story is that there will be a large city under attack. You be give choices to who your characters are and where you fit in to the world. E.g. peasant, gladiator, soldier. (Will have more options but just keep to basic for now.) So, this will give you different befits when starting the game, (E.g. More gold, better fighter)
Basic Story peasant: You are just a simple peasant and one day your home town gets attacked and you lose everything in this attack well what little you have and the main character.
My plan is to have different skill tress to let you build the character the way you want.
For combat thinking of having a grid system Turn based. And out of combat you will be able to go around and talk with people to gain info about the world and more, do trading to get new time and advance in the story and get side quest to do as you please.
What will you do in terms of refection?
How I will evaluate and reflect is by typing up a weekly report on what I think has gone good and bad then describe what my plan is and what I will be doing next week, I will try do this in as much detailed as possible.
I will do this by compare it to other games and I will be getting my peers opinions on my game, I will also watch some historical film/tv for inspiration, I’m also planning on visiting a few museums to learn a bit more about the roman history. I have also done some reach
on the internet to help learn about roam history and look at images and look at other roman games.
